About Us

Hi, I’m Nell Abramajtys and I live in Jenison, Michigan with my husband Joe.  We are both retired:  Joe from his career as a Prison Warden, and me from my career as a Social Worker.  Joe is now a writer and photographer and you can read his stories and look at his photos at joeabram.com.

I am a quilter and crafter.  Our son and daughter-in-law live near us.  They have a 6 year old son named Andrew.  He is the “light of my life!”  Grand parenting is the best job in the world.  It has stimulated my creativity endlessly.  Andrew has given me fresh eyes and great joy.  He makes me laugh and helps me look at the world in a new light.  He has abundant self-confidence, and it’s contagious.  I started making quilts for Andrew before he was born.  I embroidered the alphabet in Red Work and designed a quilt that makes the letters sing.  Check out the photograph of “Andrew’s ABCD Quilt” in my Gallery.

I love fabric.  I love to feel it, look at it, combine patterns and colors, sew it together, cut it apart, iron it, quilt it and hang it everywhere.  Our home has a quilt on every wall.
